AIIGMA is encouraging regional cooperation and actively endeavours to induct new members. Steps are taken through zonal activities and regional committees to improve the services being provided to members. To help the industry grow in a systematic manner, AIIGMA has formed various ecpert committees to look into specific issues pertaining to the industry.

In 2002, AIIGMA prepared a perspective document on the gas industry with reference to the next 10 and 20 years, “Future Perspective of Gas Industry” and presented it to the Ministry of Industry, Government of India. The document attempted to deal with the status of the industry, technological changes in different user industries, new applications and futuristic technology for giving appropriate attention to these areas for a focused development strategy.The Technical Advisory Committee of experts in the gas industry was formed in 1976.

In the same year, a three-member committee was formed to assess the problem of misuse of cylinders. In April 1990, a restructuring was undertaken, given the prevailing economic and industrial scenario, and sub-committees were formed to look into technical aspects, gas industry development, membership, public relations and safety.

The Association has Regional Convenors and Co-convenors in different parts of the country and currently the Regional Convenors’ offices are located in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Vadodara and Nagpur.
